Gaslights Emporium MK.II

So here we are! Some two days after Port Babbage's initial opening, the new site for the Gaslights Emporium is looking presentable enough to call open. Feel free to drop by and see - all feedback is greatly appreciated!

To mark the event I've released two new batches of goods, with a few more shortly on the way.

First up is my range of formal dinner suits. These are far less dandy than my previous designs, with a much shorter coat bottom and a few done-up buttons for dignity's sake.

They are available for L$400 from either of the New Babbage outlets, and comes in a choice of:
Brown
Sepia
Black
Blue
Blue
Claret
Charcoal and
Indigo

Though of course if you want another colour, you need but ask!

Secondly I've decided to release a couple of new canes to the ever-popular range, again with a few more on the way - why restrict the choice on a Gentleman's most important accessory, I say!

So for now I present the braced and the steel cane for your strutting pleasure.

Stay tuned for more, Gaslighters - these are early days yet!

Brave new shop

For those who haven't heard, I've made arrangements for a lovely new plot of land in the upcoming New Babbage port sim! I'm still in the process of constructing the building itself, ready to go in, but I plan to have some fun with it all. Imagine airship towers, an opening shop roof and finally that hangar-ship I've been talking about for months!

If anyone has any ideas or things that I'd be a fool not to include, feel free to drop me a message! It's all very exciting though, and I hope you'll all join me in making it as special and more than the current branch!

Eye caramba!

Yet another update!

In a bid to have the Gaslights Emporium cover yet more facets of Second Life existance, I'm pleased to bring you a healthy collection of eyes! Ideal for most system avatars, they're available for just L$40 each in a variety of vivid, 'hand' painted colours. Expect multi-packs in days to come, for those with a penchant for changing eye colours!

In other news, I have released my first true submersible! Unlike the airship 'pod' equivalents, this little one can only move beneath the waves, but move it does! Complete with an original driving pose and modifiable for resizing in according with your avatar shape, the Personal Submersible minisub is ideal for the upcoming New Babbage Docks and Vernian Sea sims. Don't miss out!

A Change of Face

Morning all!

It's not especially Emporium-related, but it seemed worth a mention anyway! After several months, I've made the jump to Vincente becoming a more "photo-realistic" avatar (See below!). All this came with the help of FNKY's superb skin range and stylish floppy hair from the very much under-stated H2L Hair Lab. Skin investment is always a weighty commitment, hence why I've hedged and put if off for so long, but having seen the amount of effort that goes into make a skin look halfway decent, I can only say that I'd rather not have to make it myself!

I'm rather pleased with the outcome anyway - there's a certain something to no longer having random bald spots and a slightly jaundiced complexion!

And now for something completely different

Good afternoon Gaslighters!

And no, really! I'm pleased to announce ("Finally!" you say) the opening of the Gaslights Emporium first floor (Or second floor, depending on how you look at it)! Contrary to original plans I'm using the floor as a costume shop which currently stocks a (gradually) expanding range of medieval and fantasy clothing. Take a look next time you're in the area and let me know what you think!

In other news - some of you may have already heard that I am looking to open up additional branches of the emporium. I'd just like to confirm that the second branch of my humble shop has been officially opened in the Four Deuces shopping precinct. While it currently stocks a very similar range to the New Babbage outlet, this shop will go on to feature more medieval and fantasy goods. Feel free to drop by and see what it's all about!

New shoes?

G'day Gaslighters!

At long last, we have new shoes! Cast aside your freebies, your flippers and your moon-boots - these original and stylish formal suede shoes have enough class and dignity for everyone! They're fully prim-built, textured lovingly and come with a system shoe base to prevent unfortunate accidents.

I'll be filtering new designs, colours and styles into the Emporium over the next week, but as always if you've any questions, ideas or require custom fittings, feel free to drop me an IM at any time!

Witchfinder General Store

It's been about a week since my last release and then you get two together - how lucky!

I'm pleased to announce the release of my all-new ornate flintlock pistol, perfect for Victorian, Steampunk, Pirate and even Vampire/Goth locales. Needless to say it is completely functional and comes with an operational HUD for ease of use, along with a stylish and original animation override for added posing potential.

Features of the flintlock pistol include operation HUD, complete with the means to fire from third person, a toggle between aiming and lowered weapon poses (So you don't end up pointing your gun in everyone's face when you talk to them), a choice of three customisable shot types (Lead, phosphorus and silver) and potential for upgrades and alterations to all of the above.

The second release (Albeit less spectacular) is a witchfinding steeple hat with which to relive all of your favourite Van Helsing moments. It seemed rude not to!

In other news, I am in the process of acquiring a second plot for shop expansion potential, moving into a sub-line of similar witchfinding merchandise. Be on the look-out for Witchlights Emporium in days to come!

Greatcoats (of fire)!

It's that time again!
These last two days I've been working on a greatcoat design, and have come up with a collection of four vendors to suit most of your great coat needs. These follow the authentic formal style, and have several prim belts and fastenings for added 'weight', along with a nicely flowing flexi coat bottom. As ever, I'm more than happy to do different designs, colours and provide in-game demonstrations on request, if you simply IM me (Vincente Shepherd) the details.

I would like to announce also at this time that I am now doing custom fittings in store, in the light of a large variety of different sizes among you Gaslighters! If you have a garment that doesn't fit, simply send me a copy of your avatar shape/size in game, let me know which item you need resizing, and I'll get it done for you as soon as humanly possible!

The great shirt cover up

Apologies to everyone who has previously bought anything from me that included a formal Victorian shirt or undershirt - it has transpired that the texture included a slight flaw that caused a band of white to appear on the palm of the hand (at least, when not wearing gloves. Shame on any Gentleman caught so!).

I have published a group message and attached a free version of the corrected shirt for all, regardless of whether you've bought one inthe past or not - I've also sent complimentary copies to all customers not in the group. If you've been missed out or if there are any problems, either with the shirt or with anything else, don't hesitate to let me know as soon as possible!

Stay classy, Gaslighters!

Monday 6 August 2007

When chocolate factory proprietors go bad!

Today I chanced upon one Noddeh Slade, co-owner of Chemics and Physistry and gentleman of unique dress sense! You may have seen his wares in game, but this time I had the joy of working on a comissioned suit for him. While not everyone's cup of tea perhaps, it raises a valid point - I can't cover every possibility with the vendors on my walls. If you have anything you'd like made, or would like to discuss a comission, you need only ask!

Saturday 4 August 2007

The skies of Babbage

If you've taken to the skies of New Babbage recently you might have noticed the most recent addition to my arsenal of aircraft - the GSE-006 Hedenhurst. This is the first of a new range of more realistic airships and blimps, providing an alternative to the Jules Verne-esque pod craft that I currently stock also. While a lot larger and a lot slower, there's nothing more impressive than a 100ft airship! Look out for future models with in-built aircraft hangars and the like!

Magnificent flying machines

I just wanted to take this time to announce that the vendors for the Gaslights airship range are now live and working!

For those not familiar with the Shepherd Industries 'pod' range, they're a series of aircraft comprised of metal plates, rotors blades and steam engines designed for aerial and nautical travel (Complete with steam or bubble particle effects depending on which environment you find yourself in!). There are three different models currently available with different uses in mind. Pictured below is the 'Airpod', serving as the slower moving of the series with added passenger space.

And now for something completely different

This is something a little special which I thought was deserving of a quick blog entry.

Gaslights Emporium is now host to a lucky chair, those most devious of gadgets - but this one isn't dispensing any old junk, oh no! This lucky chair will cycle through a list of limbs and attachments for the all new Mechanical Gentleman Augmentation Unit, challenging you to collect all seven independantly useable pieces in order to compile the complete avatar as below!

Good luck, Gaslighters!

Wednesday 25 July 2007

Suits you, sir!

And it begins!

The Gaslights Emporium, situated in the New Babbage square district, has been gradually filling with stock and features for almost two weeks now and has finally reached the stage where I'm about ready to call it open!

Gaslights has been something of a dream-in-progress throughout my stay so far in Second Life. Its premise was to plug the gap in the market for authentic male Victorian clothing, drawing on liberal steampunk influences also to create a range of props, accessories and vehicles to complement it. I fully intend to make the jump into creating clothing for ladies in the weeks to come, but I've always reasoned that it's safer to attempt one thing at a time.

In recent days I've been focusing specifically on finishing several ranges of clothing and some complete outfits to cater to the better dressed gentlemen in-game, and am pleased to announce the release of both the Victorian dress suit and the formal tailcoat outfit!

Each outfit comes with a jacket, jacket bottom, trousers, shirt, waistcoat and tie, but seperate ranges of waistcoats are available for some mixing and matching. Keep your eyes peeled for added features here and by all means feel free to join the Gaslights Emporium store group in game for information, offers and freebies!
